OKIDO for schools
OKIDO’s mission is to communicate science to young children in a highly visual and creative way whilst also supporting their literacy. We provide an introduction to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) learning which encourages collaboration, curiosity, exploration, creativity and critical thinking - all essential to learning about the world in which we live.
Through fun and creative comic strip stories, illustrations, songs, poems, recipes, experiments, doodles, games and a wide range of other activities, OKIDO magazine promotes, develops and supports the key EYFS and KS1 learning outcomes.
OKIDO is published monthly and each issue is centred around a different and fascinating theme. OKIDO is beautifully hand illustrated and printed using vegetable inks on FSC paper.

OKIDO in school
After-school clubs for Nursery & KS1 children
Each OKIDO after-school session focusses on a different theme, for example, Space, Colour, Who am I, Breathing or Weather. We kick off with a screening of an episode of the BBC's Messy Goes to Okido introducing the topic and then we get busy with OKIDO practicals using science and crafts to understand and explore the scientific topics. The children explore different scientific roles each week, such as a lab technician, physicist, doctor or astronaut and always have an exciting artefact to take home with them.
School Workshops & Visits
For the past 10 years, OKIDO has developed a strong track record for facilitating workshops within schools, galleries and many major cultural institutions such as The Tate, The Design Museum and The Museum of Imagination. We also participate in family festivals nationwide such as Latitude, Green Man and Camp Bestival. Our aim is always to ignite children’s interest in science, to encourage them to question everything around them and gain an understanding of the world in which they live. The workshops cover a huge range of topics and can be designed to meet any specific educational requirements you may have.
